Bio | Charles Ray “Chuck” Beery, 74, of rural Gower, MO passed away January 26, 2018. He was born on April 12, 1943 to Charles Raymond and Gladys (Gibson) Beery in St. Joseph, MO. Chuck grew up in the Frazier area and in 1961 he graduated from Gower High School. On July 1, 1967 he was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Boyer. After their marriage they lived on his family farm where they made their home. Chuck was a member of the Gower Christian Church. He was also a member of the Buchanan County Livestock Committee and was responsible in the rebuilding and continued success of the livestock show that gives children a place to showcase their animals and received monetary rewards. He was a row crop farmer and raised Angus and Maine-Anjou cattle. Chuck bled International Red and was an avid tractor puller, competing in local and state pulls. He mentored many children while he was a member and leader of the No. 5 4-H Club and with the EB FFA, alongside Dennis Campbell. He spent many hours fitting and showing livestock and teaching his skills to his children and many others. Chuck was a good husband, amazing dad and wonderful family man. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Gladys Beery; infant son C. Beery and sister Janette Allgaier. He is survived by his wife Sharon Beery; children Cheryl Beery Newcomer and husband Bolt and Skeeter Beery; sister Jean Beery, Plattsburg, MO; several “adopted” family members; other relatives and many, many friends. Visitation: 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, January 29th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower. Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday January 30th at the funeral home. Burial: Allen Cemetery, Gower Donations may be made to the Buchanan County Livestock Committee. |
